Psilocybe cubensis

This is the species everyone talks about. And for beginner microscopists, this is the one you'll care about the most.

Density / Volume.

Because of the new density options we make available (Standard/Heavy), our way of producing spore syringes has changed.

This means the syringes might not be over-filled to that 12ml mark we've previously done - without going in to full boring details, all syringes are now pre-filled to 10ml of sterile water and capped, then with the orders that come in we use that available head-room within the syringe to receive spores into from another very dense source syringe.

So, if you are still following and we haven't confused the bejesus out of you, we can't possibly know beforehand how much we need to inject into the 10ml sterile water syringe because we don't know how dense the source spore syringe is (no two spore prints we work with are the exact same size and density).

But in a way, it's totally irrelevant whether the syringe is filled to 10ml or 12ml - we're eyeballing each syringe so they get approximately the spore density they paid for (Standard or Heavy). Who really cares about how much water is in there.

Other species

Exotic species have pages of their own, with syringes and prints together: Panaeolus cyanescens, Psilocybe mexicana, Psilocybe tampanensis, Psilocybe cyanescens, Psilocybe semilanceata, Psilocybe azurescens, Psilocybe subaeruginosa, Gymnopilus luteofolius.

Spore Syringe

• Spores suspended in sterile distilled water in a BD Luer-Lok syringe
• Choose how dense you want your spore syringes to be
• Sealed with a sterile, tamper-evident luer-locking cap
• One sterile wrapped 21G (0.9 mm) x 40 mm luer-locking needle
• One sterile 70% isopropyl alcohol / 2% chlorhexidine wipe, for cleaning your slides before dropping spores on to
• Sealed in a light-blocking mylar foil bag, labelled on the outside of the bag

How Clean

Psilocybe cubensis spore syringes at Cylocybe are inherently clean. Why? Because the full life cycle of the mushroom has been within a lab - this is usually not the case and is why some vendors will not be able to provide spores as clean as ours (we only work with the best prints).
