Spore prints
A spore print is made by laying a mushroom cap gills-down on a clean surface and leaving it overnight. The spores fall out of the gills and leave a print the shape of the cap.
Prints last a lot longer than syringes. Keep yours somewhere dry, dark and cool and it will be good for years.

Print sizes
Small, Medium or Large. The bigger the print, the more spores you get.
Lab grade
Psilocybe cubensis, Panaeolus cyanescens, Psilocybe mexicana and Psilocybe tampanensis.
Outdoor grade
These species are wild printed, meaning: expect some hitchhikers (aka trichoderma and other microbes from outside which may have landed on the gills prior to printing them).
Psilocybe cyanescens, Psilocybe semilanceata, Psilocybe azurescens, Psilocybe subaeruginosa and Gymnopilus luteofolius (grass or trees along the bottom of their button).
The species
- Psilocybe cubensis: the classic, and the best place to start a collection. Purple-brown prints.
- Panaeolus cyanescens (MIB): jet black prints. Put one beside a cubensis print and you'll see the difference straight away.
- Psilocybe mexicana: from Jalisco, Mexico, with one of the best-known stories in mushroom science.
- Psilocybe tampanensis: every one today goes back to a single mushroom found near Tampa, Florida, in 1977.
- Psilocybe cyanescens (Wavy Cap): a wood-lover, found on wood chip across the UK and Europe.
- Psilocybe semilanceata (Liberty Cap): Britain's best-known grassland mushroom.
- Psilocybe azurescens (Flying Saucer): from the dune grass of the Oregon coast.
- Psilocybe subaeruginosa: native to Australia and New Zealand.
- Gymnopilus luteofolius: not a Psilocybe at all, with a rusty orange print.
